The new solid body bass feels great in my smaller hands. Perfect neck radius and neck length just short of a Mustang type neck. Strings feel firmer, and sound punchy. A great bass right in between the tried and true UBasses and any traditional short scale. Love it. A great addition to my Ubass family.
A beautiful instrument. I am a California U-Bass player and the is definitely an adjustment period going from poly strings to metal strings. One thing negative is that it comes with roundwounds, I prefer flatwounds and according to the person that I spoke with flatwounds are not yet available. Lovely instrument to touch and play. Fine workmanship. Highly recommended.

I am Tony,Linda's husband. This is my 3rd. Kala bass and love each one of them. The solid body 4 string is a winner.It like the little brother of my Fender Precision 4 string bass. It actually has more frets. The finish is beautiful,the sound is great and it comes with case. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I have not yet removed the cellophane pick guard cover. So I'm not sure if the few scratches are in the covering or the pick guard itself.
When I first looked at a Ubass, I was not sold on the fixed bridge. I have the acoustic ubass with wound strings instead of rubber and love it but intonation gets off high on the neck. This ubass with adjustable bridge is fantastic. Intonation is shockingly good.
